A leading Japanese recruiting firm was seeking immediate relocation to a larger 4,500 sq-ft office space in the heart of the business district in midtown Manhattan. Its young staff expressed their wish for an open, liberal and fun working environment while retaining a sense of its corporate structure and discipline. As soon as an employee or guest emerges from the elevator, a Japanese-red painted wall alongside a see-through custom coil drapery greets them in the vibrant reception lobby. A charcoal-gray colored carpet and file-cabinet neutralize the setting and infuse a sensible yet conservative corporate tone. For the boardroom, a unique set of clear, sliding glass panel doors/walls, available only from Europe, lends breadth to the space yet removable, allows itself to accommodate a large meeting or reception.
